JOB PURPOSE

To Drive Transformational Action by understanding how people shop


CMI Commerce Insights Manager Value Channel will deliver Commerce Insight for Customer Development (CD) in the Value Channel (Discounter) Channel. The mission of the Shopping Insights Global team is to build understanding of shopping and drive and provoke Transformational Actions by converting the knowledge to opportunities to gain more than fair share of growth.


WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE?

Delivery of the agreed market research plan as set in conjunction with the CMI Commerce lead for Modern Trade and the Channel lead for Value Channel.


This role will report to the CMI Global Modern Trade Commerce lead.


Commerce Insights Manager Value Channel will business partner Customer Development (sales) to shape & deliver the Channel & Cluster business plans.

Commerce Insights works to deliver understanding about how people shop.

The holder of this role will lead and support the delivery of ad hoc research on understanding shopping behavior – from shopping missions to decision at shelf for the different categories and across the different fascias and research projects to deliver Customer Development 2021/22 strategic thrusts in line with the market and category priorities, including presentations incorporating other CMI sources.

The holder of this role will lead, develop & execute the research plan and the projects within it for the value channel considering customer development needs, in partnership and consultation with the value channel lead and the Commerce Insight lead.

The holder of this role will help the organization to understand how people shop, and demonstrate the difference in how they shop to how they think that they shop, and how to make a difference in-store (physical and on-line stores) in this Omnichannel world

Support shaping and landing strategies with Key Customers & Channel owners. This includes meetings & presentations of insights & learnings to Key Customers, Customer Development, Marketing, and CMI.

Advise Customer Development and Category teams on changing shopping behaviors to help inform “where to play” and “how to win” including understanding emerging shopping trends like subscription and voice in-home devices.


SKILLS YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Good communication and presenting skills

• Basic understanding of retail & channel landscape

• Good understanding of market research including shopper insight and running store tests

• Good understanding of Retail Measurement services and / or use and analysis of consumer panel

• Interest in human behaviour / psychology

• Able to lead projects

• Basic analytical skills


EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE

• 5 + years in Market Research in a Supplier side role

• With experience of a Shopping Insight, Shopper Insight or Commerce role

• Working with Customer Development on a day-to-day basis understanding the time and results pressure that Customer Development are under in order to deliver pragmatic, actionable market research in a quick turnaround.
