To cover a maternity leave in our team we are looking for Payroll & Operations Specialist for a period of 6,5 months. The Core HR Team delivers our HR operations and payroll for all employees based in the Netherlands. As Payroll & Operations Specialist you play a key role in conducting activities related to salary & benefits, HR reporting, implementing changes to our HR policies and processes etc., with the overall aim to deliver a great employee experience.

The Payroll & Operations Specialist is the primary contact for HR colleagues supporting them and the business on queries they can have in the areas you are responsible for. 

Next to that, the Payroll & Operations Specialist is the primary contact for external contacts (e.g. non-Unilever employees, government bodies, third party providers) in need for HR information. You investigate what information and which action from HR or others need to be taken to provide a response and drive excellent execution. 

Furthermore, there are various operational HR administration tasks that are taken by the Payroll & Operations Specialist. In this role, you will be working closely with the PEO/Payroll Specialist, external payroll provider and the HR & Operations Manager. 


As Payroll & Operations Specialist, you are responsible for:

  • Conducting & monitoring monthly and annual payroll processes and transactions to achieve 100% payroll timeliness and accuracy, in collaboration with our third-party payroll provider.
  • Stakeholder management and advising on payroll matters in projects.
  • Identification and sustainable resolution of payroll issues. 
  • Advising our employees and HR community & Business on Payroll related topics and queries, such as:
    • Gross/net calculations
    • 30% ruling
    • Tax settlements
    • Wage garnishments (loonbeslagen)
  • Ensure that our payroll administration is up to date and accurate, including claims, employee loans or (advance) payment agreements.
  • WAZO administration.
  • Working with the other HR Specialists (like Reward or Legal team) during peak moments and on projects to get the work done and all output in Payroll correctly. For example: implementing new CLA, set up (or closure) of legal entities, etc.
  • Shadow payroll administration for tax and accounting purposes (Euronet payroll).
  • Providing our external provider Compensation Details of employees who have tax support.
  • Leading continuous improvement projects with Unilever teams (Finance & Pension) to improve end to end processes and data quality.

 

This is a great job for you when the following relates to you:

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience;
  • Capable to work independently in an organized and structured way, taking ownership of your responsibilities, as well as being able to collaborate in a team. 
  • Have proficient and broad understanding of HR systems such as Workday, ServiceNow, SAP, HR processes, and 3rd party providers;
  • Have knowledge of working with an interface; 
  • Have Payroll knowledge, completed PDL or VPS;
  • Expert with Excel (e.g. Formula’s, V-Look up, Reports, Pivot tables);
  • Able to lead continuous improvement projects;
  • Are very accurate when working with data.
  • Spot needs and problems proactively and address these by using a logical, systematic, sequential, and empathetic approach.
  • Able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, customer oriented.
  • Not easily stressed by managing different, often conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Like to work in a dynamic, complex, international, and ever-changing environment, being eager to learn.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
